Pattern #4881
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 1.2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Interface the collar piece with fusible interfacing.
  2. Interface the pocket opening on the side lower front piece with fusible interfacing. Place the pocket bag on the side lower front piece right sides together and stitch the pocket opening. Turn the pocket bag to the wrong side, press. Place the side lower front piece on the front side panel and stitch the edges of the pocket bags, overcast the allowances.
  3. Stitch the princess seams of the upper and lower back and front pieces, press allowances towards the center and overcast. Stitch the upper and lower back and front pieces, press allowances upwards and overcast.
  4. Overcast the center back seam separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the neckline to the first mark and from the second mark to the bottom. Press open the center seam allowances, pressing the slit. Insert the zipper.
  5. Stitch the side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and overcast.
  6. Fold the collar piece right sides together and stitch into a loop, press allowances open. Fold the collar in half lengthwise right side out and press. Stitch the outer side of the collar to the neckline (the collar seam is located at the left shoulder seam), turn under the raw edge of the inner side and topstitch into the attaching seam.
  7. Cut a bias binding (if not ready-made) 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 5cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise right side out and press. Place the binding on the armhole edge right side up and stitch. Clip the allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  8. Overcast the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
