FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 5 buttons; decorative cord.
CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom of the garment and sleeve – 2 cm. Top edge of the pocket – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Back – 2 pieces
- Front – 1 piece on fold
- Back placket – 2 pieces
- Front placket – 4 pieces
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Pocket – 2 pieces
- Casing – 1 piece
- Sleeve tab - 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back placket – 1 piece
- Front placket – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Interface the pieces with fusible interfacing.
- Overlock the bottom edge and the straight vertical edge of the pocket. Fold the top edge twice by 1 cm and topstitch onto the front. Fold the overlocked edges and press. Place the pocket according to the markings and topstitch, securing it along the side edge.
- Along the shoulder edge of the front, between the marks, sew a basting stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Stitch the shoulder edge, press seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Stitch the shoulder edges of the plackets, press seam allowances open. Fold the placket pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer edge. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn the placket right side out, and press. Place the right placket over the left and secure along the bottom edge. Attach the outer plackets to the right side of the front along the long edges and neckline, stopping 1 cm from the bottom. Turn under the open edge of the inner placket and topstitch into the joining seam. Clip the front allowance at the corners, stopping 1 mm from the stitching. Tuck the ends of the plackets inwards and stitch, securing the bottom edge.
- Fold the tabs in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long and short edges. Turn right side out, trimming seam allowances at corners, straighten and press. Overlock the open short edge. Topstitch the tabs according to the markings onto the wrong side of the sleeves.
- Stitch the side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overlock. Overlock buttonholes for the cord on the front.
- Press the casing allowances inwards. Topstitch the short allowances. Place the casing on the wrong side of the dress and topstitch along the marked lines.
- Stitch the sleeve seam. Overlock the allowance and press towards the back. Set in.
- Overlock the bottom of the garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Overlock buttonholes on the right placket. Overlock buttonholes on the tabs. Sew on buttons. Thread the cord.
