Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers; knitwear with low or medium stretch in contrasting or analogous colors. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; a concealed zipper, 2 snap fasteners.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS ARE WITHOUT SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for dress bottom and sleeve hem – 1.2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back part - 2 pieces
    • Side back part - 2 pieces
    • Back yoke – 2 pieces
    • Right front bodice — 1 piece
    • Left front bodice — 1 piece
    • Upper sleeve part – 2 pieces
    • Belt – 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing – 2 pieces
  • From knitwear:
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the facing pieces and the cut-on facing of the right front bodice.
  2. Fold the belt lengthwise in half, right sides together, and stitch along the long and one short side. Trim seam allowances at corners, turn the belt right side out, shape, and press.
  3. Stitch the back princess seams, inserting the belt piece into the right princess seam. Press seam allowances towards the center and overcast. Attach the yoke to the back, press seam allowances towards the yoke and overcast.
  4. Overcast the center back seam allowance separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press seam allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
  5. Stitch the waist and bust darts on the front bodice pieces. Press waist dart depths towards the center, bust darts – upwards.
  6. Overcast the outer edges of the neckline facings. Place the neckline facing on the left front bodice, right sides together, and stitch the neckline edge. Turn the facing to the wrong side, shape, and press.
  7. Attach the left front bodice to the cut-on facing of the right front bodice, placing them right sides together (the facing extends 1 cm beyond the bodice). Press seam allowances and overcast.
  8. Fold the right front bodice along the center front line to the right side, place the neckline facing on the right front bodice, right sides together, and stitch the neckline edge and the upper corner of the front opening. Clip seam allowances at the curve. Turn the facing and cut-on facing to the wrong side, shape, and press. Topstitch along the marked line on the right front bodice.
  9. Place the back neckline facing on the main back piece, right sides together, and stitch the neckline edge exactly up to the marked shoulder seam line. Clip seam allowances at the curve.
  10. Stitch the shoulder seams, sandwiching the front bodice shoulder seam between the back shoulder seam and the facing. Press seam allowances towards the back, overcast. Turn pieces right side out, press.
  11. Stitch the side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overcast.
  12. Stitch the upper and lower sleeve parts, press seam allowances upwards and overcast. Stitch the sleeve seam, press seam allowances and overcast. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches. Press seam allowances and overcast.
  13. Overcast the hem allowance of the garment and sleeve hem, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  14. Sew snap fasteners onto the belt. Sew the corresponding parts onto the inside of the right front bodice.
