Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper.

FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details). Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch darts on the lower back part, press allowances towards the center. Stitch the back princess seams, overcast allowances and press towards the center. Stitch the upper and lower back parts. Overcast allowances and press downwards. Overcast the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the top to the zipper mark and from the second zipper mark to the bottom. Press allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
  3. Stitch the front princess seams, overcast allowances and press towards the center. Stitch darts on the lower front part, press allowances towards the center.
  4. Stitch the shoulder seams of the dress, overcast allowances and press open.
  5. Place the upper collar on the lower collar, right sides together, and stitch along the ends and outer edge. Start and end stitching strictly at the marked collar attachment seam line. Trim seams at corners, clip at the mark. Turn the collar right side out, shape and press.
  6. Stitch the shoulder seams of the front facings and back neckline facing, press allowances open. Overcast the outer edge.
  7. Place the front facing on the right side of the front part, right side down, pin and stitch along the front edge and lapel. Stitch upwards to the notch indicating the end of the collar attachment. Trim seams at corners. Topstitch the seam allowance of the front edge: on the zipper section – to the front facing, on the lapel section – to the front part. Position the stitching 0.2 cm from the seam. Turn the front edges right side out, shape the seams.
  8. Attach the lower collar to the neckline of the main garment, and the upper collar to the neckline edge of the back facing and front facings. Press the collar attachment seam allowances open and secure close to the seams.
  9. Overlap the right front part over the left, aligning the center lines and secure along the bottom and the vertical edge section. Attach the lower front part to the upper part. Overcast the allowance and press downwards.
  10. Stitch the side seams. Overcast allowances and press towards the back.
  11. Stitch and press open the elbow seam of the sleeve. Overcast allowances. Press up the sleeve hem. Stitch and press open the front seam of the sleeve. Overcast allowances. Set the sleeve into the armhole, overcast allowances.
  12. Overcast the bottom edges of the garment and sleeves. Fold allowances to the wrong side and hem with blind stitches.
  13. Fold the belt piece in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the contour, leaving an opening in the middle of the belt. Trim allowances, turn the belt right side out, press. Close the opening.
