Fabric Recommendations

Choose medium-weight dress fabrics with good body and drape for both the main garment and the contrasting panels:

  • Dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers
  • Wovens such as crepe, gabardine, or stable wool blends for the main body
  • Coordinating woven fabrics of similar weight for the contrast panels.

Additional Supplies

  • Invisible zipper

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers in matching colors. You will also need: a concealed zipper.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 3 cm; sleeve hem – 2.0 cm, allowance along the slit – 2 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details).

  • From main fabric:
    • Back sleeve — 2 pieces
    • Front sleeve — 2 pieces
    • Collar – 1 piece
    • Pocket bag – 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 1:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Front - 1 piece on fold

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  1. Finish the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the slit mark. Press seam allowances open, pressing the zipper slit and the main slit. Insert the concealed zipper. Topstitch the lower slit 0.1 cm from the fold.
  2. Attach the back sleeve to the back, press allowances towards the sleeve, finish edges.
  3. Attach pocket bags to the front. Finish allowances. Attach the front sleeve to the front, simultaneously stitching the pocket bag allowances, press allowances towards the center, finish edges.
  4. Stitch shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and finish edges. Stitch the sleeve seam simultaneously with the side seam, press allowances towards the back and finish edges.
  5. Fold the collar in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the corners. Start stitching precisely at the marked attachment line. Trim allowances at the corners, turn right side out, and press. Attach the outer side of the collar to the neckline. Fold the allowance of the inner side inwards and topstitch into the attachment seam.
  6. Finish the bottom edge of the garment and the sleeve hem, press to the wrong side, and hem with blind stitches.
