Tech. Description

Draped V-neck Blouse

A women's sleeveless straight blouse with a V-neckline whose edges continue into a cut-on stand collar joined at centre back, soft drape folds at the front and a full self-fabric lining that finishes the neckline and armholes.

When To Wear

  • In summer on its own with trousers or a skirt.
  • Under a jacket for the office or an evening out, in silk or chiffon.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Straight, slightly loose, with no darts.

Length: Hip length, straight hem.

Collar: Stand collar cut in one with the front and joined by a centre back seam; it is caught into the back neckline when the lining is stitched on. The front allowance is clipped at the shoulder seam where the collar begins.

Neckline: Deep V at the front, framed by the folded collar edges, which fall in soft folds from the shoulders.

Sleeves: Sleeveless; each armhole is stitched to the lining in two steps, front first, then back.

Back: One piece cut on the fold, with no closure.

Lining: Front and back lining cut from the main fabric; the lining hem is turned twice by 1 cm and topstitched separately from the outer hem.

Finishing: Shoulder seams pressed open, side seams overlocked and pressed towards the back; hem overlocked, turned with a 2 cm allowance and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. A cut-on collar set while bagging out the neckline with a lining, armholes finished in two steps, and fine fluid fabrics such as chiffon.

Fabric Recommendations

Blouse fabrics of natural or blended fibres; silk, chiffon.

Additional Supplies

  • No supplies beyond the main fabric are listed; the lining is cut from the same fabric.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom edge of the garment and lining – 2 cm. Attention! First of all, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Back Lining – 1 piece on fold
    • Front – 1 piece on fold
    • Front Lining – 1 piece on fold
