Cutter's Must
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Back – 2 pieces
- Side front – 2 pieces
- Center front – 2 pieces
- Front facing – 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Front facing – 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the corresponding pieces. Along the front neckline, apply an additional fusible stay tape.
- Stitch the back dart. Press the dart depth towards the center. Stitch, serge, and press open the center back seam.
- Stitch the front princess seam. Clip allowances at curves. Serge allowance and press towards the side front.
- Stitch shoulder and side seams. Serge allowances and press towards the back.
- Stitch and press open the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and front facings. Serge the outer edge. Place front facings with the garment and stitch the front edges and neckline in one continuous seam. Trim allowances at corners, clip at curves, turn the garment right side out, and press. Secure the facing and front facings to the shoulder seams and center back seam.
- Stitch the sleeve seam. Serge allowance and press towards the back. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches, easing the sleeve cap at the top. Attach shoulder pads.
- Serge the hem allowance of the garment and sleeves, fold to the wrong side, and topstitch.
