Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Back Skirt – 2 pieces
  • Center Back – 2 pieces
  • Side Back – 2 pieces
  • Side Front – 2 pieces
  • Center Front – 1 piece (cut on fold)
  • Front Facing – 1 piece (cut on fold)
  • Back Facing – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing: Front Facing and Back Facings.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the Back Facings and the Front Facing (fusible interfacing is pressed onto the wrong side of the piece with a hot iron).
  2. Stitch the princess seams on the back and front. On the front, clip into the corner when stitching. Stitch the side and shoulder seams.
  3. Stitch the Back Skirt pieces to the front. Gather the upper edge of the skirt and stitch it to the upper part of the dress, right sides together.
  4. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the hem. Finish and press open the seam allowances, press the edges of the zipper opening. Place the zipper under the opening so that the teeth are not visible and stitch in place.
  5. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the facings. Place the facings onto the dress, right sides together, and stitch along the neckline and armhole edges. Turn the facings right side out through the shoulders, fold them to the inside and understitch them to the seam allowances 1–2 mm from the seam. At the zipper, turn under the free ends of the facings and sew them to the zipper tape. Also tack the facings at the underarms.
  6. Finish the hem of the dress with a 1 cm turned-up hem.
