Sewing Instructions
- Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the FRONT FACINGS, straps, and BACK FACINGS.
- Stitch the center back seam and back darts. Finish the SEAM ALLOWANCES. Press the center back seam to the left, and the darts towards the center.
- Stitch the back dart seams and the center seam, leaving the opening for the ZIPPER unstitched. Finish the seams, press the darts towards the center.
- Stitch the side seams, finish them, and press towards the front.
- From the BIAS BINDING, create the narrowest possible rouleau loop. Cut it into 3 parts and shape each piece into a loop. Baste the loops to the end of the left strap, with the tops of the loops on the strap and the ends of the loops on the SEAM ALLOWANCE. The size of the loop depends on the button's diameter.
- Stitch the center seam on the FRONT FACINGS, then attach the BACK FACINGS to them. Press the seams open. Place the FACING and the dress right sides together and stitch the upper back edges from the ZIPPER, the armhole edges, the outer strap edges, and the front neckline edges. Trim the SEAM ALLOWANCES to 2-3 mm from the stitching, diagonally at the strap ends, and clip the neckline corners perpendicularly to the seam, stopping 1 mm from the stitching. Turn the FACING to the wrong side, baste, and press.
- Stitch the side seams on the skirt pieces made from the main fabric and from organza. Place the inner skirt (organza) with the main skirt wrong sides together, align the side seams, and treat as a single layer. Stitch the center seam from the bottom up to the ZIPPER mark. Create and baste the pleats along the upper edge of the skirt. Attach the skirt to the BODICE of the dress. Direct the seam towards the BODICE and finish it.
- Fold up the BACK FACING. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES for the closure to the wrong side. Attach the ZIPPER so that the teeth are not visible. Fold the FACING to the wrong side and sew it to the ZIPPER tape.
- Press the hem allowance to the wrong side, fold it inwards, and topstitch. For the organza skirt, trim the hem so that it is 1.5-2 cm shorter than the dress hem.
- Sew buttons to the end of the right strap, corresponding to the loops.
