RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WORKING WITH EMBROIDERED FABRICS. The recommended fabric is embroidered with beads or sequins. Before stitching seams, remove beads from SEAM ALLOWANCES up to the seam line, and at the seam line, additionally secure them with a couple of stitches so they don't come off. Before stitching seams on a sewing machine, it is advisable to install a special ZIPPER foot so that the foot slides only along the SEAM ALLOWANCES where the beads have already been removed. Otherwise, you can sew the seams by hand with small, dense backstitches; in this case, it is not necessary to remove beads from the SEAM ALLOWANCES.
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the upper BACK PANEL of the LINING, the side upper FRONT PANEL of the LINING, the middle upper FRONT PANEL of the LINING, the back part of the strap, and the front part of the strap.
- Stitch the princess seams on the upper FRONT PANELs. Attach the upper BACK PANELs to the upper FRONT PANELs.
- Stitch the seams on the LINING. Fold the LINING with the main piece right sides together and stitch along the neckline edge of the FRONT PANEL. Fold back the LINING and topstitch onto the SEAM ALLOWANCE 1 mm from the seam. Press the neckline, baste the LINING along the edges to the main piece.
- From the BIAS BINDING, create the narrowest possible rouleau loop. Cut it into 2 parts and shape each segment into a loop. Baste the loops to the end of the left front strap, with the tops of the loops lying on the strap and the ends of the loops on the SEAM ALLOWANCE. The size of the loop depends on the button diameter.
- Stitch the back and front parts of the straps in pairs. Fold the outer straps with the top of the dress and attach along the center upper BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL up to the mark. Fold the inner straps with the outer ones and stitch along the outer side, the end of the strap, and along the outer side up to the mark. Trim the SEAM ALLOWANCES, cut diagonally at the corners, and at the curves, clip the SEAM ALLOWANCE in several places perpendicular to the seam, stopping 1 mm before it. Turn the straps right side out, baste. Fold the remaining section of the inner strap inward and topstitch from the right side into the attachment seam. Press the strap.
- Overlap the right upper FRONT PANEL onto the left, aligning the center lines, baste along the bottom edge.
- Stitch the center back seam on the lower parts, leaving the section for the ZIPPER unstitched at the top. Stitch the princess seams of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL, leaving the slit on the left front princess seam unstitched. Stitch the side seams.
- Attach the lower part of the dress to the upper part.
- Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES for the ZIPPER to the wrong side. Attach the ZIPPER so that the teeth are not visible, folding under the upper tips of the tape.
- Press the slit allowance to the wrong side. Overlock the hem allowance, press to the wrong side, and hem with blind stitches.
- Sew buttons onto the right strap according to the loops.
