V-Neck Wrap Dress with Patch Pockets

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 2 buttons; 1 hidden button. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom — 2.0 cm, allowance for the upper edge of the pocket – 3.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to consider paired and symmetrical details).

WHEN STITCHING DETAILS, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Center back part - 1 piece with fold
  • Side back part – 2 pieces
  • Back waistband – 1 piece
  • Lower back part – 1 piece with fold
  • Center front part - 2 pieces
  • Side front part - 2 pieces
  • Front waistband - 2 pieces
  • Lower front part - 2 pieces
  • Pocket — 2 pieces
  • Front neckline facing — 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing — 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Front neckline facing — 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing — 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
2. Stitch the princess seams of the upper back, press allowances towards the center, serge.
3. Stitch the princess seams of the upper front, press allowances towards the center and serge.
4. Stitch shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
5. Stitch shoulder seams of neckline facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place facing and garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Clip allowances at curves, turn pieces right side out, straighten, press. Secure facing to main garment at shoulder seams.
6. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and length equal to armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch, fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece.
7. Stitch side seams of the upper part, press allowances towards the back and serge.
8. Along the upper edge of the lower back part, stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the waistband to the lower back part, press allowances upwards, serge.
9. Along the upper edge of the lower front part, stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the waistband to the lower front part, press allowances upwards, serge.
10. Stitch side seams of the lower part, press allowances towards the back and serge.
11. Serge the allowance of the upper pocket edge, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Serge the side and bottom edges of the pocket, press to the wrong side. Place the pocket according to markings on the lower part and topstitch.
12. Serge the edge of the integrated facing of the lower front part. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the garment, enclosing the upper front part with the integrated facing, press allowances towards the waistband and serge. Turn pieces right side out, straighten, press.
13. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
14. On the right front, make a buttonhole, on the left front, sew on a button. Make a buttonhole on the left front, sew on an inner button. Sew on a decorative button.
