CUTTER'S MUST
- From main fabric:
- Back - 2 pieces
- Front - 1 piece on fold
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Cuff – 2 pieces
- Collar stand – 2 pieces
- Front facing – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Collar stand – 1 piece
- Front facing – 1 piece
- Cuff – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce pieces with fusible interfacing. Also reinforce the slit allowance on the back pieces.
- Stitch darts on back pieces, press dart intake towards the center.
- Stitch waist and bust darts on the front piece. Press waist dart intake towards the center, bust darts upwards.
- Overlock the outer edges of the front facing. Place the front facing onto the front, right sides together, and stitch the neckline edge. Clip seam allowances at corners, turn facing to the wrong side, smooth out, and press. Secure the facing to the main garment along the open edges.
- Stitch shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back, and overlock.
- Attach the outer collar stand to the neckline, press seam allowances towards the stand. Overlock the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the slit mark, press seam allowances open. Stitch a reinforcing line along the slit 0.2 cm from the edge. Insert the zipper, starting from the marked stitching line for the upper edge of the collar stand.
- Place collar stand pieces right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn the collar stand to the right side, smooth out, and press. Fold the lower edge of the inner collar stand inwards and topstitch into the seam attaching the outer collar stand. Fold the short sides of the inner collar stand inwards and sew to the zipper tape.
- Stitch side seams, press seam allowances towards the back, and overlock.
- Along the sleeve cap and lower sleeve edge, stitch a gathering stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Overlock sleeve edges separately. Stitch the sleeve seam from the armhole to the slit mark, press seam allowances open. Topstitch the slit 0.1 cm from the fold. Set sleeves into armholes, press seam allowances and overlock.
- Place cuff pieces right sides together and stitch the side edges. Start and end stitching precisely at the marked line for the cuff attachment seam. Turn pieces to the right side, smooth out, and press. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve, fold the seam allowance of the inner side of the cuff inwards and topstitch into the seam attaching the outer cuff.
- Overlock the hem allowance of the dress, press to the wrong side, and hem with blind stitches.
- Overlock buttonholes on cuffs, sew on buttons.
