Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 1 button. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS ARE WITHOUT SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom edge of the garment – 1.2 cm, sleeve – 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical parts).

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Back – 1 piece on fold
  • Front – 1 piece on fold
  • Front part of sleeve – 2 pieces
  • Back part of sleeve – 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Bridge – 2 pieces
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Front neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
2. Stitch darts on the front. Press dart allowances upwards.
3. Stitch shoulder and side seams, press allowances towards the back, serge.
4. Serge the middle and bottom edges of the sleeve. Stitch sleeve parts from the top to the slit mark and from the bottom slit mark to the bottom. Press allowances open, pressing the slit. Along the slit, make a reinforcing stitch 0.1cm from the edge. Along the sleeve cap, make a basting stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Stitch the sleeve seam. Serge allowances and press towards the back part. Fold and topstitch the bottom edge of the sleeve. Set the sleeve into the armhole, press allowance and serge.
5. Fold the bridge in half lengthwise and stitch the longitudinal edges. Turn the bridge right side out, smooth and press. Serge the short sides. Wrap the bridge around the bottom part of the sleeve, fold the bridge allowances inwards and hand stitch.
6. Cut a bias strip 2.5 cm wide and 10 cm long for the loop. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch 0.3 cm from the fold. Trim allowances close to the stitching, turn the strip right side out and straighten the rouleau. Adjust the loop length.
7. Stitch shoulder edges of the neckline facings. Press allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place the facing on the garment, right side down, and secure along the neckline edges. Slash the back and back facing along the marked line. Stitch the neckline and back slit, gradually tapering to nothing and inserting the loop. Slash allowances and the corner at the back. Turn the facing to the wrong side and press.
8. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
9. Sew a button to the back neckline.
