CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance – 2 cm; other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Back - 1 piece on fold
- Front - 1 piece on fold
- Ruffle 1 – 2 pieces
- Ruffle 2 — 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
- Slash the back piece along the middle of the dart up to the mark. Slash the front piece along the middle of the dart up to the mark.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the back and front from the neckline to the dart and from the dart to the armhole edge, press seams open, overcast.
- Overcast the outer allowance of the ruffles, fold to the wrong side and topstitch. Alternatively, the edges can be finished with bias binding or a French seam. For this, the allowance must be trimmed. Along the straight edge of the ruffle, stitch with loosened upper thread and gather.
- Stitch the bust dart and the back shoulder dart in one seam, inserting ruffle 1 into the seam from mark to mark. Press allowances towards the center and overcast.
- Stitch the side seams, press allowances towards the back and overcast.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the back and front neckline facings, press allowances open. Overcast the outer edge. Place the facing onto the right side of the garment and stitch the neckline. Clip allowances, turn facings to the wrong side and press the neckline edge. Stitch the facing to the shoulder seams.
- Fold ruffle 2 with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch from mark to mark. Press allowances towards the ruffle and overcast.
- Cut (or use ready-made) bias binding 4 cm wide and with a length equal to the length of the lower part of the armhole + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise with the right side out and press. Fold the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Turn the binding to the wrong side, clip allowances and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
- Overcast the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
