Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: soft knit fabric with medium stretch from natural or blended fibers in contrasting or related colors. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: knit fusible interfacing, 5 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE PATTERNS INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1.0 cm; hem allowance - 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Back – 1 piece on fold
  • Left front – 1 piece
  • Back sleeve part – 1 piece
  • Front sleeve part – 1 piece
  • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
  • Right front neckline facing – 2 pieces
  • Left front neckline facing – 2 pieces
• From main fabric 1:
  • Right front – 1 piece
  • Back sleeve part – 1 piece
  • Front sleeve part – 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Right front neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Left front neckline facing – 1 piece

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
2. Fold facing pieces in pairs right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn facings right side out, smooth, and press.
3. Stitch facing to the back, press seam allowances down and serge. Stitch facing to the left front, press seam allowances down and serge. Stitch facing to the right front, press seam allowances down and serge.
4. Overlap the right front over the left and stitch along the bias edge, serge seam allowances. Lay the front flat and topstitch the right facing into the joining seam, securing it to the left part.
5. Stitch the back sleeve parts to the back, press seam allowances and serge. Stitch the front sleeve parts to the back, press seam allowances and serge.
6. Stitch the side seams, simultaneously with the sleeve seams, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
7. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length and the upper and lower sleeve edges + 5 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise right side out and press. Place the binding along the armhole and sleeve edge on the right side and stitch. Clip seam allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
8. Stitch the shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
9. Serge the hem allowance, fold to the wrong side and topstitch.
10. Sew buttons onto the right front facing. Secure the front and back sleeve parts with a button, butting them together.
