Tech. Description

V-Neck Gathered Dolman Blouse

A women's loose blouse with short cut-on sleeves, a deep V-neck with a stand cut in one with the shoulder yoke, gathers below the yoke at front and back, and a curved hem that is longer at the back.

When To Wear

  • In summer with trousers, jeans or a straight skirt, worn untucked.
  • For the office under a jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Loose and straight, with fullness gathered into the yoke.

Length: Hip length at the front; the back drops lower in a rounded curve.

Neckline: Deep V-neck; the low stand is part of the yoke and is joined at centre back. The neckline and stand are finished with centre front facings and a back neckline facing, both interfaced.

Sleeves: Short sleeves cut in one with the front and back, hemmed with a turned and topstitched edge.

Front: Two fronts joined by a centre front seam from the bottom of the V to the hem; the shoulder edge of each front is gathered into the yoke.

Back: Back cut on the fold, gathered at the centre into a curved yoke seam. The yoke is cut in two pieces with a centre back seam and runs over the shoulders to the front.

Closure: None; the blouse goes on over the head.

Finishing: Yoke seams pressed upwards and serged; side seams pressed towards the back; hem serged, turned and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Gathering into a yoke, a stand set into the neckline with clipped corners, and a V-neck finished with facings joined at the shoulders.

Fabric Recommendations

Blouse fabrics of natural or blended fibres.

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing (back neckline facing, centre front facings)

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance and sleeve hem allowance – 1.2 cm; other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
