Pattern #2477
Tech. Description

V-Front Stand Collar Jacket

Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a chic, structured cropped jacket featuring a distinctive stand collar that flows into a unique V-shaped front opening.

When To Wear

This V-Front Stand Collar Jacket is a versatile garment, suitable for various occasions where you want to combine style with comfort:

  • Casual Chic: Elevates everyday outfits with its unique silhouette and structured finish.
  • Office Wear: a stylish alternative to a traditional blazer, perfect for adding a modern touch to work ensembles.
  • Evening Layer: Pairs elegantly with dresses or tailored separates for a refined evening look.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Cropped length, structured fit with clean lines and a defined shape.

Neckline & Collar: a wide, sculptural stand collar that elegantly frames the face and transitions seamlessly into the open front.

Closure: Features a single decorative fastener at the center front, as seen in the garment photo.

Sleeves: Three-quarter length sleeves finished with tailored cuffs, offering a sophisticated and practical look.

Hem: Distinctive V-shaped front hem creates a flattering line, contrasting with a clean, straight back hem.

Back: a clean, smooth back panel designed for a neat, tailored appearance.

Length: Cropped, designed to sit just above the natural waistline.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in structured garment assembly, detailed collar construction, and cuff attachment.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose medium-weight fabrics that hold their shape well to maintain the jacket's defined silhouette:

  • Thin coat fabrics
  • Suiting fabrics made from natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing
  • 1 decorative fastener (e.g., toggle, button & loop)

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the back lower edge and side front – 2.5 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Side front – 2 pieces
    • Center front – 4 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Center front – 2 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the center back seam. Overlock the allowance and press it to the left side.
  3. Stitch the upper sleeve seam. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the back.
  4. Stitch the side seams simultaneously with the sleeve seams. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the back.
  5. Overlock the hem allowance, fold it inwards, and topstitch (or hem with blind stitches).
  6. Place the center front pieces right sides together and stitch the center collar seam. Press the allowance open. Place the center front pieces right sides together and face the front edge and lower edges. Clip the allowances, trim corners. Place the outer side of the center front onto the main garment and stitch along the front edge and neckline. Fold the allowance of the inner inwards and topstitch into the attaching seam.
  7. Stitch the cuff into a loop. Press the allowance open. Place the cuff right side onto the right side of the sleeve and stitch. Turn the cuff to the wrong side and press the seam. Fold the cuff allowance by 1 cm and topstitch onto the sleeve.
  8. Attach the decorative fastener.
