Tied Peplum Blouse with Front Slit

Pattern #2393
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: well-draping blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: a concealed zipper.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS ARE WITHOUT SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for peplum lower edges – 2 cm; sleeve lower edge – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 2 pieces
    • Back peplum – 2 pieces
    • Front – 2 pieces
    • Front peplum – 1 piece
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Tie – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Along the lower edge of the upper back part, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the back peplum to the back. Overlock the allowance and press it upwards.
  2. Overlock the center back edge separately on each piece. Stitch the center back edge from the zipper mark to the bottom, press allowances open. Insert the zipper.
  3. Overlock the center front edges separately. Stitch the center front edge from the top to the slit mark and from the slit to the bottom. Press allowances open. Stitch a decorative-securing stitch along the slit 0.1 cm from the edge.
  4. Place the tie piece onto the front, right side down, and stitch the tail. Start and end the stitch strictly at the marked seam line for joining the upper and lower parts. Clip allowances at marks, clip allowances at curves. Trim allowances at the corner. Turn pieces right side out and press.
  5. Stitch with a loosened upper thread along the upper allowance of the tie and gather. Attach the front peplum to the upper part of the blouse, catching three sections of the front and the tie in one stitch. Overlock the allowance and press it upwards.
  6. Attach the sleeves to the front. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the sleeve. Attach the right sleeve to the back. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the sleeve.
  7. Cut a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the neckline length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the neckline edge, right sides together, extending the tails, and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip the seams, and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  8. Attach the left sleeve to the back. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the sleeve.
  9. Stitch the side seams, simultaneously with the sleeve seam. Press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  10. Overlock the lower edge of the peplums, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  11. Overlock the lower edge of the sleeve. Fold the allowance to the wrong side and topstitch.
