Cutter's Must
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Back - 1 piece with fold
- Front - 1 piece with fold
- Sleeve - 2 pieces
- Back facing – 1 piece
- Front facing – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back facing – 1 piece
- Front facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the pieces.
- Stitch darts on the front piece. Press dart allowances upwards.
- Cut a strip for loop closures at a 45-degree angle, approximately 30 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch 0.3 cm from the fold. Trim seam allowances close to the stitching, turn the strip right side out, and press the rouleau. Cut into 5 pieces. Adjust the length of the loops. Stitch the loops onto the right front piece along the opening (folds facing away from the edge).
- Overlock the outer edge of the front facing. Place the front facing and front piece right sides together and stitch the neckline edge and opening 0.2 cm from each side. Cut between the stitching lines, turn the facing to the wrong side, press, and secure the facing to the main garment along the edges.
- Overlock the outer edge of the back facing. Place the back facing and back piece right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Start and end the stitching precisely at the marked shoulder seam line.
- Stitch shoulder seams, inserting the front piece between the back and back facing, press allowances towards the back and overlock. Turn the back facing to the wrong side, press, and stitch the facing to the back along the outer edge.
- Stitch side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances and overlock. Along the sleeve cap, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Overlock the lower edge of the sleeve, press to the wrong side and stitch. (The bottom of the sleeve can also be overlocked with a narrow rolled hem. Before that, the allowance of the lower sleeve edge should be trimmed.) Stitch lines using elastic thread according to markings.
- Set sleeves into armholes, press allowances and overlock.
- Overlock the hem allowance of the garment, press to the wrong side and stitch.
