Sewing Instructions

TIP: To keep the fabric stretchy in the areas of finished seams, stitch the cut pieces with a narrow zigzag or a special stretchy stitch. To keep the bottom edge stretchy, overcast the hem with an overlock stitch, then attach it using a twin needle. The same applies to finishing other edges of the garment that should not lose elasticity. These recommendations do not apply to industrial production.

  1. WELT POCKETS. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the welt, fold it in half lengthwise, and press. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the pocket placement area. Mark a line on the welt that defines the finished width of the welt. Stitch the small pocket bag to the wrong side of the welt. Place the welt with the pocket bag on the right side of the FRONT PANEL, aligning the pocket marking line with the line on the welt. The outer side of the welt should align with the right side of the FRONT PANEL. Stitch the welt. Stitch the large pocket bag to the upper pocket marking line. Cut the pocket opening in the middle between the marking lines, making diagonal cuts towards the pocket marking corners. Turn the pocket pieces to the wrong side. Straighten and press the seam allowances. Stitch the pocket bag edges, securing the pocket corners.
  2. GARMENT ASSEMBLY. Stitch the shoulder seams. Set the SLEEVES into the open armholes. Topstitch the armhole seam. Fold the CUFFS in half lengthwise and attach them to the SLEEVES, stretching the CUFF edge to the desired length. Fold the COLLAR in half and FACING the outer edge.
  3. POLO FASTENING. The finished placket width is 3cm. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the placket and underplacket pieces. Cut the FRONT PANEL along the placket marking. FACING the left edge of the FRONT PANEL with the FACING, placing the pieces right sides together (3 mm seam). Straighten and press the seam. Attach the outer side of the right placket to the right cut edge with a 3 mm seam. Set the COLLAR into the neckline. Fold the inner edge of the placket inwards. FACING the placket corners. Topstitch the right placket into the placket attachment seam. Place the left placket over the right, aligning the center front lines, even out the fastening edges, and secure the lower edges of all fastening pieces with machine stitching, making it perpendicular to the fastening edge on the right side.
  4. Stitch the side seams and SLEEVE seams. Topstitch the CUFF attachment seam onto the CUFF.
  5. Topstitch the COLLAR attachment seam with a STRETCHY stitch.
  6. Overcast and press up the bottom hem. Topstitch the bottom of the garment.
  7. Press the finished polo.
  8. On the left placket, overcast the buttonholes; on the right placket, sew on the buttons.
