Blouse with Drawstring Channels and Sleeve Ties

A hip-length women's top for knit fabric with a round neckline, long flared set-in sleeves and drawstring casings that gather the lower front and the sleeves, with the ties hanging free at the hem.

When To Wear

  • For everyday wear in spring and autumn with jeans, trousers or skirts.
  • For the office under an open jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Straight through the body.

Length: Hip length, straight hem turned up and topstitched.

Neckline: Round neckline finished with interfaced front and back facings, turned to the inside and topstitched.

Sleeves: Long set-in sleeves with eased caps, widening towards the hem. A casing along one edge of the sleeve gathers it down to the hem, with the tie ends hanging below the sleeve hem.

Front: Two vertical casings on the lower front, from below the bust to the hem; the fabric is gathered onto ties threaded through them.

Back: Plain on the drawing. Back casings are included for the gathered variation.

Finishing: Casings are strips stitched to the wrong side along the markings; ties are folded strips stitched 0.7 cm from the fold and turned. Shoulder seams stabilised with a selvedge strip.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Straight knit seams, a faced neckline and set-in sleeves; the casings and ties are straight strips stitched along markings.
