Knit fabric from natural or synthetic fibres.

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing (front and back armhole facings)
  • Tape for the shoulder seams
  • Cord for the collar

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    1. Front – 1 piece
    2. Back – 2 pieces
    3. Stand Collar – 2 pieces
    4. Back Armhole Facing – 2 pieces
    5. Front Armhole Facing – 2 pieces
    6. Trouser Stripe (side panel) – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing: Front Armhole Facing, Back Armhole Facing.

Sewing Instructions

Tip: To ensure the fabric remains stretchy in areas with finished seams, stitch the cut pieces with a narrow zigzag or special stretch stitch. To keep the bottom edge stretchy, overlock the hem with an overlock stitch, then stitch it using a twin needle. The same applies to finishing other edges of the garment that should not lose elasticity. These recommendations do not apply to industrial production.

  1. Fuse interfacing to the Front Armhole Facings and Back Armhole Facings.
  2. Stitch the center back seam.
  3. Stitch the darts on the front and back.
  4. Overlock the darts on the front.
  5. Stitch the Trouser Stripe (side panel) to the side edge of the back.
  6. Stitch the Trouser Stripe to the side edge of the front.
  7. Stitch the shoulder seams, inserting stay tape.
  8. Stitch the shoulder seams of the front and back armhole facings.
  9. Overlock the outer edge of the facings.
  10. Stitch the side seams of the front and back armhole facings.
  11. Stitch the facing to the armhole, right sides together.
  12. Turn the facing to the wrong side of the garment, rolling the seam slightly inwards so a narrow edge of the garment shows on the inside. Press the armhole.
  13. Topstitch along the armhole.
  14. Attach the outer edge of the facing to the side and shoulder seams.
  15. Stitch the stand collar along its upper (outer) edge.
  16. Stitch the center seam of the collar.
  17. Mark and make small buttonholes on the outer collar for the cord.
  18. Fold the inner collar to the wrong side. From the right side of the collar, stitch a channel for the cord.
  19. Set the collar into the neckline.
  20. Thread the cord through the collar.
  21. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment.
  22. Fold and topstitch the bottom edge of the garment.
