When To Wear

In spring and summer, untucked over slim trousers, jeans or shorts.
For everyday wear and travel, with the sleeves rolled up or let down.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Loose, with fullness from the front gathers and the back pleats.

Length: Hip length, with a curved hem that rises at the side seams.

Neckline: Split V at the centre front, finished with a narrow two-layer band: the outer layer is stitched to the neckline and the inner layer is stitched in the ditch of that seam.

Front: Cut on the fold, gathered along the upper edge and joined to two shaped front insets. A short placket made of two layers on each side, with interfacing, is stitched to the front and closes with two buttons.

Sleeves: Set-in, three-quarter length when let down. A tab stitched to the wrong side of each sleeve buttons onto the sleeve to hold it rolled up.

Back: Back yoke cut on the fold; the back below it is cut on the fold with pleats laid toward the centre.

Finishing: Seams overlocked; 1.5 cm hem on the body and sleeves, turned up and topstitched.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns are without seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance for the garment bottom and sleeve hem – 1.5 cm; other seams – 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

From fusible interfacing:

Sewing Instructions

Fuse interfacing to one Neckline Facing and two Placket pieces.
Fold the pleats on the Back, directing them towards the center. Stitch the Back Yoke to the back. Press the seam allowance towards the yoke and overlock.
Along the upper edge of the Front, sew a line of stitching with loosened upper thread tension and gather. Stitch the Front Insets to the Front, press seam allowances towards the front and overlock.
Stitch side and shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
Place the Placket pieces in pairs right sides together and stitch the outer edge. Turn right side out and press. Work buttonholes on the right Placket. Stitch the Plackets to the right side of the front along the long edge, stopping 1 cm from the bottom. Clip the front allowance at the corners, stopping 1 mm from the stitching line. Tuck the ends of the Plackets inwards and stitch, securing the bottom edge. Overlock allowances.
Place the Neckline Facing pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer contour. Start and end the stitching exactly at the marked neckline seam line. Clip allowances at curves. Turn the finished facing right side out and press. Stitch the upper facing to the neckline, press allowances towards the facing. Turn under the raw edge of the lower facing and stitch it in the ditch of the upper facing seam.
Fold the Sleeve Decorative Tabs lengthwise in half right sides together and stitch along the long and short edges. Turn right side out, trimming allowances at corners, straighten and press. Overlock the open short edge. Topstitch the tabs to the wrong side of the Sleeves according to the markings.
Stitch sleeve seams, press towards the back and overlock. Stitch sleeves into armholes, press allowances and overlock.
Overlock the bottom edge of the garment and sleeves, fold inwards and topstitch.
Sew buttons on the left Placket. Work buttonholes on the Sleeve Decorative Tabs and sew buttons on the Sleeves.
