Pattern #4884
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: medium stretch knit fabric made of natural or blended fibers. ALSO NEEDED: knit fusible interfacing; 2 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: hem allowance for the garment bottom, sleeve hem – 1.5 cm, other seams 0.8 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Front – 1 piece
    • Back – 2 pieces
    • Collar – 4 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Collar – 2 pieces

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the center back seam. Overlock the allowances and press to the left side.
  2. Fuse interfacing to collar pieces. Stitch collar pieces in pairs. Fold the collar right sides together and stitch along the outer edge. Turn the collar right side out, press. Overlap the right collar part over the left and secure along the bottom edge.
  3. Attach the collar piece to the front, press and overlock allowances.
  4. Stitch shoulder seams, press and overlock allowances.
  5. Insert the collar into the back neckline, clipping at the corners, press and overlock allowances.
  6. Set sleeves into open armholes, matching notches, press and overlock allowances. Stitch sleeve seams simultaneously with side seams, press and overlock allowances.
  7. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment and the sleeve hem, fold to the wrong side, press and topstitch.
  8. Sew buttons through the collar.
