Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: low-stretch knit fabric or dress fabrics with elastane added, made from natural or blended fibers in contrasting or complementary colors. ALSO NEEDED: invisible zipper, fusible interfacing, 8 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; allowance along the slit – 2 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 3.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical details). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Right front part - 1 piece
    • Sleeve - 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 1:
    • Left front part – 1 piece
    • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Cuff – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the cuffs.
  2. Stitch darts on the back pieces, press allowances towards the center.
  3. Serge the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the slit mark. Press allowances open. Insert the invisible zipper. Topstitch allowances along the slit at 0.2 cm.
  4. Stitch the dart on the right front piece. Press the dart depth upwards. Stitch the princess seam of the front, press allowance towards the center and serge.
  5. Stitch shoulder seams. Serge allowances and press towards the back. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the neckline length + 5cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the neckline edge, right sides together, and stitch. Clip allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  6. Stitch side seams. Serge allowances and press towards the back.
  7. Stitch the sleeve seam. Set sleeves into armholes, easing the sleeve cap according to notches, press allowances, serge.
  8. Fold the cuff in half lengthwise, right side in, and stitch the short sides. Turn the cuff right side out, straighten, press. Overlap the cuff ends, matching notches. Attach the cuff to the lower edge of the sleeve, press allowances towards the sleeve, serge. Topstitch allowances to the main garment with a 0.5 cm seam.
  9. Press the dress hem allowance to the wrong side and hand stitch with blind stitches.
  10. Sew on buttons according to marks.
