Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Interface the waistband pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch darts on the back and front panel pieces, press the dart allowances towards the center.
  3. Overcast the bias edge of the front panel, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  4. Stitch side seams, press allowances towards the back panel and overcast.
  5. Stitch the back waistband to the left and right front waistbands, press allowances open. Fold the waistband in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the short sides and the tie. Start stitching strictly at the marked line for attaching the waistband to the skirt. At the mark, clip the allowances, turn the waistband right side out, and press. Attach the outer side of the waistband to the upper edge, turn under the inner side and topstitch into the attachment seam.
  6. Fold the detachable waistband in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the long side and one short side. Trim allowances at the corners, turn the waistband right side out, straighten, and press. Overcast the short edge. Topstitch the detachable waistband onto the seam joining the back waistband to the left front waistband.
  7. Overcast the bottom edge of the skirt, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  8. Overcast a buttonhole on the left front part of the waistband. Sew on a hidden button.
