Tech. Description

Long Sleeve Knit Top V-shaped Guipure Yoke

A women's long-sleeved pull-on top for low-stretch knit, with an upper front and upper back cut from guipure that meet the knit body in a V-shaped seam at the front, and a double-layer faced crew neckline.

When To Wear

  • With trousers, jeans or a skirt for everyday wear in autumn and winter.
  • For evenings out, when the guipure yoke is cut in a contrasting colour.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Straight, slightly relaxed fit.

Length: Hip length.

Neckline: Round crew neckline finished with a double-layer knit facing: the outer layer is stitched to the neckline and the inner layer topstitched into the same seam.

Sleeves: Long knit sleeves joined along an angled seam to the guipure upper front and upper back, which extend over the shoulders onto the top of the arm; the sleeves are then joined to the lower body, and sleeve and side seams are sewn in one pass.

Front: Guipure upper front and knit lower front, each cut on the fold; the joining seam forms a V at the centre front. No closures.

Back: Guipure upper back and knit lower back, each cut on the fold.

Finishing: Seams stitched with a stretch or narrow zigzag stitch and serged to 0.6–0.8 cm; 2 cm hems at the bottom and sleeves, topstitched with a twin needle.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Joining guipure to knit along an angled seam with a corner to clip, and a double-layer neckline facing.

Fabric Recommendations

Low-stretch knit fabric made from natural or blended fibres for the body and sleeves; guipure in a contrasting or matching colour for the upper front and back.

Additional Supplies

  • Knit fusible interfacing (one back and one front neckline facing)
  • Twin needle for the hems

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom of the garment and sleeve hem – 2 cm. First of all, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric 1 (knit):
    • Lower Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Lower Front – 1 piece on fold
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Back Neckline Facing – 2 pieces
    • Front Neck Facing – 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 2 (guipure):
    • Upper Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Upper Front – 1 piece on fold
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Back Neckline Facing – 1 piece
    • Front Neck Facing – 1 piece

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.
