  • For evenings out in autumn and winter, under an open jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting, with darts on the front.

Length: Hip length.

Neckline: Round neckline bound with a folded strip of knit bias tape, 4 cm wide, topstitched along the fold; a neckline piping pattern piece is included to set the binding length.

Front: One piece cut on the fold. No closures.

Back: One piece cut on the fold.

Finishing: Side and sleeve seams sewn in one pass; seams stitched with a stretch or narrow zigzag stitch or on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker. Hem allowance 1.5 cm, topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Raglan seams joining guipure to knit, a bias-bound neckline and gathered sleeves set into cuffs.

Fabric Recommendations

Low- or medium-stretch knit fabric made from natural or blended fibres for the body and cuffs; guipure with elastane for the sleeves.

Additional Supplies

  • Knit bias tape, 4 cm wide (or cut from the main fabric)

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns are without seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance 1.5 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece (cut on fold)
    • Front – 1 piece (cut on fold)
    • Cuff – 2 pieces
    • Neckline Piping – 1 piece
  • From guipure lace:
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces

Attention! The Neckline Piping pattern piece is necessary to equalize the neckline length. Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is stitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the darts on the front and trim the dart allowances with an overlocker.
  2. Stitch the sleeves to the back, press the seam allowances towards the back and overlock. Stitch the sleeves to the front, press the seam allowances towards the front and overlock.
  3. Stitch the side seams and sleeve seams in one continuous seam, press the seam allowances and overlock.
  4. Cut knit bias tape (if not ready-made) 4 cm wide and equal to the neckline length + 5 cm. Fold the bias tape in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the bias tape on the right side of the neckline, aligning the edges, and stitch. Clip the seam allowances. Fold the bias tape to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  5. Fold each cuff into a ring, right sides together, stitch and press the seam allowances open. Fold the cuff in half, right side out, and press. Sew a line of long, loose gathering stitches along the lower edge of the sleeve and gather. Stitch the cuffs to the sleeves, press the seam allowances towards the sleeve and overlock.
  6. Overlock the hem allowance, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
