Fabric & Materials
Fabric recommendations: fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. Also needed: lining fabric; fusible interfacing; 1 invisible zipper; 6 decorative buttons.
CUTTER'S MUST
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom of the garment 3 cm. Allowance for the inner edge of the side front panel, for the inner edge of the facing for the cut-out – 0 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need.
- From main fabric:
- Back panel – 2 pieces
- Center front panel – 1 piece
- Side front panel – 2 pieces
- Back facing – 2 pieces
- Front facing – 1 piece
- From lining fabric:
- Back panel lining – 2 pieces
- Front panel lining – 1 piece
- Cut-out facing – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back facing – 2 pieces
- Front facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- Fuse interfacing to facings and vent allowances.
- Stitch darts on back panel pieces, press depths towards the center.
- Overcast the center edges of the back panel separately on each piece, simultaneously overcasting the vent. Stitch the center edge from the zipper mark to the edge of the vent. Press seam allowances open, pressing the zipper opening, press vent allowances towards the left side edge. Press the right side of the vent by 1 cm and topstitch. Secure vent allowances with machine stitching. Insert zipper.
- Overcast the inner edges of the side front panel and the cut-out facing. Fold the facing with the center front wrong sides together and stitch the cut-out edge. Trim allowances, clip curves, turn facing to the wrong side and press.
- Lay and secure pleats on the center front panel according to markings. Place the panel on the side part and topstitch 0.7 cm from the cut-out.
- Stitch side seams, press allowances towards the back panel and overcast.
- Stitch lining edges similarly to main fabric pieces, press allowances, overcast. Lay pleats along the upper edge. Stitch and press open side seams of facings. Attach lining to the lower edge of facings, press allowances upwards, overcast.
- Fold facings with the skirt right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Topstitch allowances to the facing 0.2 cm from the stitching line. Turn facings to the wrong side and press. Fold the center edges of the back facings and sew to the zipper tape.
- Press the bottom edge of the skirt by 1 cm, then by another 2 cm and topstitch. Press the bottom edge of the lining twice by 1 cm and topstitch.
- Sew buttons onto the pleats, securing them, according to the technical drawing.
