Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. Also needed: fusible interfacing; 1 invisible zipper.

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance – 1.2 cm, other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need.

  • From main fabric:
    • Yoke – 2 pieces
    • Right side part – 2 pieces
    • Center part – 2 pieces
    • Left side part – 2 pieces
    • Facing for left side part – 2 pieces
    • Bottom part – 2 pieces
    • Top facing – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Facing for left side part – 2 pieces
    • Top facing – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Reinforce facings with fusible interfacing.
  2. Processing the back panel. Stitch the right side part to the center part, press seam allowances towards the center and overcast. Along the upper edge of the center part, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Stitch the yoke to the skirt panel, press seam allowances upwards and overcast.
  3. Fold the facing of the left side part with the left side part right sides together and stitch the bottom edge. Fold the facing to the wrong side, press. Along the upper edge of the bottom part, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Fold the bottom part with the facing of the left side part right sides together and stitch. Press seam allowances upwards and overcast. Topstitch the facing onto the skirt along the marked line.
  4. Stitch the left side part to the skirt panel, press seam allowances towards the center and overcast.
  5. The front panel is processed similarly.
  6. Overcast the left side edge separately. Stitch the left side edge from the notch for the zipper to the bottom, press seam allowances open. Insert the invisible zipper. Stitch the right side edge. Press seam allowances towards the back and overcast.
  7. Stitch the right side edge of the top facings, press seam allowances open. Overcast the bottom edge. Fold the facing with the skirt right sides together and stitch the top edge. Topstitch the seam allowances onto the facing at a distance of 0.2 cm from the stitching line. Fold the facing to the wrong side, press. Fold under the raw edges of the facing and sew to the zipper tape.
  8. Overcast the hem allowance of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
