Pattern #2875
Tech. Description

Paneled Sweatshirt with Pleated Sleeves

Introducing a comfortable women's sewing pattern for a paneled sweatshirt, distinguished by its artfully pleated long sleeves and contemporary silhouette.

When To Wear

This versatile sweatshirt is perfect for various occasions, offering both comfort and style:

  • Casual Everyday Wear: Ideal for relaxed outings, errands, or cozy days at home.
  • Elevated Athleisure: Pair with leggings or joggers for a chic, comfortable athletic-inspired look.
  • Transitional Seasons: a stylish layer for cooler weather in spring, autumn, or mild winters.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: a relaxed, straight-cut silhouette providing comfortable ease of movement.

Neckline: a classic crew neckline, finished with a separate neckband.

Sleeves: Long, set-in sleeves featuring distinctive pleats at the sleeve cap for added volume and design interest, finished with separate cuffs.

Body Panels: The front and back feature distinct central and side body panels, creating visual structure and shaping.

Hem: a straight lower hem, designed for a simple folded finish.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires familiarity with sewing knit fabrics, assembling multiple panels, creating pleats, and attaching cuffs and neckbands.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose low-stretch knit fabrics for the main garment, with an option for rib knit for the neckband and cuffs:

  • Low-stretch knit fabrics made from natural or blended fibers (e.g., French terry)
  • (Optional) Rib knit fabric for the neckband and cuffs

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back – 1 piece on fold
    • Side back – 2 pieces
    • Center front – 1 piece on fold
    • Side front – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve — 2 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces
    • Collar – 1 piece

Tip: For the collar and cuffs, you can use ready-made knit ribbing. Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.
