Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: knit fabric with low or medium stretch (French terry) made of natural or blended fibers in contrasting or complementary colors. ALSO NEEDED: fusible interfacing; 3 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; top pocket allowance – 2 cm; hem allowance – 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Center front – 1 piece on fold
    • Middle sleeve part – 2 pieces
    • Pocket – 2 pieces
    • Hood – 2 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 1:
    • Side front – 2 pieces
    • Front sleeve part – 2 pieces
    • Back sleeve part – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Placket – 2 pieces

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
