Fabric & Materials
Fabric recommendations: well-draping knit fabric with medium to high stretch from natural or blended fibers.
CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS ARE WITHOUT SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: hem allowance - 1.5 cm, other seams 1.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. Markings on the patterns are made on the right side!
- From main fabric:
- Back – 1 piece
- Side back – 1 piece
- Front – 1 piece
- Side front – 1 piece
Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
Sewing Instructions
WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- On the front piece, between the first - second and third - fourth marks, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Also gather on the side front piece between the marks. When pulling the gathers, refer to the side front pattern piece.
- Stitch the left shoulder seam, press allowances towards the back, serge.
- Serge the outer edge of the integrated neckline facing. Press the facing to the wrong side, secure at the seams.
- Stitch the right shoulder seam (on the side pieces), press allowances towards the back, serge.
- Attach the side back and front pieces to the main pieces, press allowances away from the center, serge. To prevent stretching of the pieces at the gathering point, it is recommended to topstitch a non-stretch tape onto the allowance. Stitch a reinforcing stitch 0.1 cm along the seam.
- Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide, with a length equal to the armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge on the right side and stitch, fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece.
- Stitch the side seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
- Serge the bottom edge of the product, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
