Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: well-draping blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers with added elastane. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 1.2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Back – 2 pieces
  • Front – 2 pieces
  • Front facing – 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Front facing – 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the pieces.
2. Serge the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the top to the zipper mark and from the zipper mark to the bottom. Press seam allowances open, insert the concealed zipper.
3. On the shoulder edge of the front, create and secure pleats. Stitch the shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back, serge.
4. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding on the armhole edge, right side to right side, and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
5. Stitch the shoulder seam of the front facing and neckline facing, clip and press seam allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place the front facing and neckline facing on the right side of the main garment and stitch the right front edge from the center back seam to the bottom. Stitch the left front edge from the center back seam to the mark. Clip seam allowances at the mark. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn the front facing to the wrong side and press. Serge the seam allowances of the left front edge from the mark to the bottom.
6. Overlap the right front over the left front, align the center lines, and topstitch along the right front edge from the vertical mark to the bottom. Topstitch from the vertical mark of the right front, along the neckline, and along the left front edge.
7. Stitch the side seams, press seam allowances towards the back, serge.
8. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
