A women's hip-length top for knit fabric, with a V-neckline, inverted pleats at the front shoulder edges and a 2 cm decorative trim stitched down the centre front from the point of the V to the hem.
Silhouette: Straight, close to the body, ending at the hip.
Neckline: V-neck at the front, round neckline at the back, both finished with interfaced facings that are turned to the inside and tacked to the shoulder seams.
Front: One piece with no centre seam. Inverted pleats are stitched at each shoulder edge next to the neckline and secured; the decorative trim is topstitched along the markings on the front pattern piece.
Sleeves: Short set-in sleeves.
Back: One plain piece.
Finishing: Hems of the body and sleeves serged, turned up 2 cm and topstitched, with a twin needle or a coverstitch machine to keep the stretch.
Beginner. Few pieces and straight seams; the steps that need care are folding the shoulder pleats, placing the trim on the markings, turning the V-neck facing and sewing knit fabric with a stretch stitch or overlocker.
Knit fabric with medium stretch, from natural or blended fibres.
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns are without seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance for the garment bottom and sleeve bottom – 2 cm, other allowances - 1.0 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
