Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 1 piece on fold
    • Back yoke – 2 pieces
    • Front – 2 pieces
    • Front yoke – 4 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Collar stand — 2 pieces

    • Collar stand – 1 piece
    • Placket – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Fold the collar stand pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer contour. Start and end the stitching strictly at the marked line of the attaching seam. Clip the allowances at the curves. Turn the finished collar stand right side out and press.
  3. Fold the back yokes wrong sides together, secure along the edges, and then treat as one piece. Attach the back yoke to the back, overlock the allowance and press it upwards.
  4. Fold the front yokes wrong sides together, secure along the edges, and then treat as one piece. Form and secure the pleats on the front, directing the depth away from the center. Attach the front yoke to the front, overlock the allowance and press it upwards.
  5. Fold the plackets in pairs right sides together and stitch the outer edge. Clip the allowances, turn the plackets right side out and press. Attach the outer side of the placket to the front, press the allowances towards the placket. Fold under the edge of the inner placket and topstitch into the attaching seam.
  6. Stitch and overlock the sleeve seam. Press the allowance towards the back. Along the bottom edge of the sleeve between the marks, sew a basting stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Bind the bottom edge with bias tape. Along the sleeve cap in the upper, sew a basting stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Set the sleeve into the armhole. Overlock and press the allowances.
  7. Stitch the side and shoulder seams. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the back.
  8. Attach the outer of the collar stand to the neckline, press the allowances towards the collar stand. Fold under the open edge of the inner collar stand and topstitch into the attaching seam.
  9. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment. Press the allowances to the wrong side and topstitch.
  10. Make buttonholes on the right placket. Sew buttons onto the left side of the placket.
