When To Wear

For the office in spring and autumn, with a tucked-in blouse or a fine knit.
For everyday wear with a short jacket or a cardigan.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted at the waist and hips by the yoke, flaring to a wide hem.

Length: Midi, below the knee.

Waist: Contoured yoke with a V-point at the centre front and centre back, faced with an inner yoke; the seam allowances are understitched 0.2 cm from the edge. No waistband.

Pockets: Slanted pockets cut into the front panels, with a side piece and pocket bag. A folded trim tab is caught in the pocket opening seam and fixed to the front with a button.

Back: Centre back seam with a concealed zipper through the yoke.

Finishing: Hem turned up 1.5 cm and topstitched.

From fusible interfacing:
- Back yoke – 2 pieces
- Front yoke - 1 piece
- Trim – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces. Fuse interfacing to the pocket opening on the front.
Stitch the back yoke to the back, press seam allowances upwards. Finish the raw edges of the center back separately on each piece. Stitch the center seam from the zipper mark to the hem. Press seam allowances open. Insert the zipper.
Fold the trim piece in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the short edge. Turn the piece right side out, straighten, and press.
Place the pocket bag on the front, right sides together, and stitch the pocket opening, inserting the trim. Clip the seam allowances, turn the pocket bag to the wrong side, and press. Place the front on the side and stitch the edges of the pocket bags, finish the raw edges. Secure the pieces at the side and upper edges.
Stitch the center seam of the front, press seam allowances to the left side and finish the raw edges. Stitch the front yoke to the front, press seam allowances upwards.
Stitch the side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and finish the raw edges.
Stitch the side seams of the inner yokes, press seam allowances open. Finish the lower edge. Place the yoke on the skirt, right sides together, and stitch the upper edge. Topstitch the seam allowances to the yoke 0.2 cm from the stitching line. Fold the yoke to the wrong side, and press. Fold under the center edges and stitch to the zipper tape. Topstitch the yoke into the seam of the outer yoke attachment.
Finish the lower edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
Sew on buttons, securing the trim on the front.
