Draped Cowl Neck Short Sleeve Blouse

Pattern #2354
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: well-draping knit fabric with medium stretch from natural or blended fibers.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: hem allowance for the garment and sleeve – 1.5 cm, other seams - 1.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Front – 1 piece on fold
    • Upper front part – 1 piece on fold
    • Front insert – 1 piece
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker. Before that, trim allowances to 0.7 cm.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Press the front insert crosswise, wrong side in. Overlock the all-in-one allowance of the upper edge of the upper front part and press to the wrong side.
  2. Along the upper edge of the front between the marks, make a gathering stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Stitch the front insert and the upper front part to the front, placing the upper part between the insert and the front. Press and overlock the allowances.
  3. Cut (or use ready-made) bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the length of the back neckline + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding lengthwise in half, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the neckline edge right sides together and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip the allowances, and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  4. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
  5. Stitch the shoulder and side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  6. Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock. Set in the sleeve, press and overlock the allowances.
  7. Overlock the bottom edge of the sleeve, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
