CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom edge of the garment – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Back - 1 piece on fold
- Front – 2 pieces
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Cuff – 2 pieces
- Collar stand — 2 pieces
- Placket – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Cuff – 2 pieces
- Collar stand – 1 piece
- Placket – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
- Place collar stand pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer contour. Start and end the stitching precisely at the marked seam line for attachment. Clip seam allowances at curves. Turn the finished collar stand right side out and press.
- Press the placket lengthwise in half, right side out. Stitch the outer side of the placket to the front, press seam allowances towards the placket. Fold under the raw edge of the inner placket and topstitch into the attachment seam.
- Make a slit on the sleeve along the marked line. Cut a bias strip from the main fabric, 4 cm wide and a length equal to double the slit length + 4 cm. Fold the bias strip lengthwise in half and press. Press the outer seam allowances towards the center. Finish the sleeve slit with the bias strip.
- Attach sleeves to the back, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Attach sleeves to the front, press seam allowances towards the front and serge.
- Along the upper edge of the front, back, and sleeve, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather.
- Attach the outer part of the collar stand to the neckline, press seam allowances towards the collar stand. Fold under the raw edge of the inner collar stand and topstitch into the attachment seam.
- Stitch the side seams simultaneously with the sleeve seam. Serge seam allowances and press towards the back.
- Place cuff pieces right sides together and stitch the side edges. Start and end the stitching precisely at the marked seam line for cuff attachment. Turn the piece right side out, press. Along the bottom edge of the sleeve, stitch with a loosened thread and gather. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve, fold under the raw edge of the inner cuff and topstitch into the attachment seam of the outer cuff.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment. Press seam allowances to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Make buttonholes on the cuffs, sew on buttons. Make buttonholes on the right placket and collar stand. Sew buttons on the left side of the placket and collar stand.
