Tech. Description

Band Collar Eyelet Blouse with Pintucks

A women's long-sleeved blouse with a stand collar, a button-through front placket, scalloped eyelet insets across the front yoke and upper sleeves, and vertical pintucks on the lower front.

When To Wear

  • In spring and summer with a skirt or trousers.
  • At work, tucked in or worn over trousers, buttoned up to the collar.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Semi-fitted, shaped with bust darts.

Length: Hip length, with a straight hem.

Collar: Two-piece stand collar with one buttonhole, the inner stand topstitched into the neckline seam.

Front: Front yoke joined to a scalloped eyelet inset; the scalloped edge of the inset is laid over the lower front and topstitched along marked lines. Pintucks run vertically on the lower front on each side of the placket, pressed towards the centre.

Closure: Separate interfaced placket folded in half on each front; buttonholes on the right placket and the collar, buttons on the left.

Sleeves: Long set-in sleeves, gathered at the cap and at the wrist. Each sleeve has an upper part, a scalloped eyelet inset and a lower part, assembled like the front. Sleeve opening finished as a slit topstitched 0.1 cm from the fold; interfaced buttoned cuffs.

Back: One piece cut on the fold, with no seams or darts.

Finishing: Hem turned 1 cm and 1.5 cm and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Even pintucks, scalloped eyelet insets laid on and topstitched, a stand collar, a front placket, sleeve slits and cuffs.

Fabric Recommendations

Blouse fabrics of natural or blended fibres for the main parts; scalloped eyelet (broderie anglaise) for the front and sleeve insets. When cutting the insets, place the lower edge a little away from the scallop edge so it can be topstitched easily.

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing (placket, stand collar, cuffs)
  • 11 buttons

    • Lower Front – 2 pieces
    • Upper Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Lower Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Placket – 2 pieces
