Draped Blouse with Shoulder Clasp

Fabric recommendations: blouse fabrics, well-draping fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 3 buttons; 2 beads; decorative clasp.

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! ATTENTION! Markings on the patterns are made on the right side.

  • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
2. Finish the center back raw edge separately. Stitch the center back from the slit mark to the bottom, press seam allowances open.
3. Stitch with a loosened upper thread along the left shoulder edge of the front and gather. (The main bulk of the gathering is closer to the neckline). Stitch shoulder and side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and finish.
4. Cut a bias strip 2.5 cm wide and 10 cm long for the loop. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch 0.3 cm from the fold. Trim seam allowances close to the stitching, turn the strip right side out and straighten the loop. Adjust the loop length.
5. Stitch the shoulder seams of the neckline facings. Press seam allowances open. Finish the outer edge. Place the facing right side down onto the right side of the blouse and stitch the neckline and center back seam, inserting the loop. Clip seam allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Attach the facing to the shoulder seams. Stitch a securing line 0.1 – 0.2 cm from the edge of the slit.
6. Finish the sleeve seams separately. Stitch the sleeve seam up to the slit mark, press seam allowances open. Stitch a securing line along the slit at 0.1-0.2 cm. Set the sleeves into the armholes. Finish seam allowances.
7. Fold the cuff in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the short sides. Trim seam allowances, turn the cuff right side out and press. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve. Fold the seam allowance of the inner side inwards and topstitch.
8. Press the hem of the garment to the wrong side by 1 cm, then another 1 cm, and topstitch.
9. Make buttonholes and sew buttons onto the cuffs and neckline.
10. Create arbitrary pleats across the mark. Secure the pleats through with beads on both sides, leaving 5-6 cm free. Grommets and a chain can also be used.
