Pattern #8004
Tech. Description

Wrap Front V-Neck Long Sleeve Knit Top

Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a fitted knit top featuring a stylish wrap-front V-neckline and long sleeves.

When To Wear

This versatile knit top is perfect for a range of occasions, offering comfort and style for:

  • Everyday Chic: An elevated basic suitable for daily wear and casual outings.
  • Office Casual: A polished yet comfortable option ideal for professional environments.
  • Dinner & Socializing: Easily dressed up for evenings out or gatherings with friends.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted through the bodice, gently shaping the waist before extending to the hip.

Neckline: A deep V-neckline created by the elegant wrap-front design.

Front Detail: Overlapping front panels form the wrap, featuring small pleats or gathers integrated into a defined waist seam, enhancing the figure.

Sleeves: Long, slim-fit set-in sleeves, finishing with a stitched hem.

Back: A clean and unadorned back, ensuring a smooth silhouette.

Waist: A distinct horizontal seam defines the natural waistline on the front, merging the wrap bodice with the lower panel.

Hem: A straight hemline finishing at hip length, designed for a neat, stitched edge.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires experience sewing with knit fabrics and managing elastic seams, along with attention to detail for the wrap-front construction.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose medium-stretch knit fabrics that offer both comfort and drape:

  • Knit fabrics of medium stretch from natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
  • BACK PANEL – 1 QTY
  • Lower FRONT PANEL – 1 QTY
  • Upper FRONT PANEL – 2 QTY
  • SLEEVE – 2 QTY

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Serge the neck edge allowance of the upper FRONT PANEL. Fold the allowance to the wrong side, press, and topstitch. Form pleats according to the NOTCHES.
  2. Overlap the right upper FRONT PANEL onto the left and secure them together. Attach the lower FRONT PANEL to the upper FRONT PANEL, press and serge the SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  3. Stitch the shoulder seams. Note: The shoulder seam of the BACK PANEL is 1 cm longer than the shoulder seam of the FRONT PANEL (allowance for finishing the back neckline). Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL.
  4. Stitch the side seams. Serge and press the SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  5. Stitch the SLEEVE seams. Serge and press the SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  6. Set the SLEEVES into the armholes, matching the NOTCHES. Serge and press the SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  7. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, the bottom edge of the SLEEVE, and the back neckline edge. Fold the allowances to the wrong side, press, and topstitch.
