Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a comfortable knit cardigan, characterized by its flowing shawl collar, open front, and relaxed dolman sleeves.
This versatile knit cardigan is perfect for adding a layer of comfort and style, suitable for:
Silhouette: A relaxed, open-front silhouette with a gently curved hemline, offering a comfortable and flattering drape.
Collar: Features a wide, draping shawl collar that cascades down the front, creating a soft and elegant neckline.
Closure: Designed with an effortlessly open front, free from closures for a relaxed aesthetic.
Sleeves: Relaxed dolman sleeves taper to fitted cuffs, providing comfort and a refined finish.
Back: Features a clean upper back with a horizontal seam connecting to a separate lower back panel.
Hem: The front hem features a gentle curve that rises towards the side seams, while the back hem is straight.
Length: Falls to approximately hip length, providing comfortable coverage.
Intermediate. Requires working with knit fabrics, attaching a draped collar, and neat finishing with facings.
Choose medium to heavyweight knit fabrics with good drape for the best result:
Fabric recommendations: dense knit fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. ALSO NEEDED: knit fusible interfacing. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.
