Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the dart on the front wedge. Press the seam and topstitch. Stitch the side wedges to the back wedges, press the seams and topstitch. Stitch the back center seam, press, and topstitch. Attach the front wedge to the side wedges, press the seams and topstitch.
  2. Fold the TRIM STRIPS for the closure right sides together, stitch around, turn right side out, baste, press, and topstitch. Thread one TRIM STRIP through the buckle, fold in half, align the edges, overlapping the ends of the TRIM STRIP. Attach the buckle to one back wedge and the TRIM STRIP for eyelets to the other.
  3. Fold the visor pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer contour. Trim the SEAM ALLOWANCE close to the seam. Turn the visor right side out. Insert the rubber interfacing so that the seam is in the middle of the interfacing. Topstitch the visor along the outer contour, securing the interfacing. The main fabric should fit snugly around the interfacing. Trim the inner edge of the visor.
  4. Baste the edge of the crown to the wrong side. Baste the visor to the crown with frequent stitches so that the centers align, and the ends of the visor are equidistant from the seams and the edge of the cap.
  5. Stitch the LINING pieces similarly to the main fabric pieces. Fold the main fabric pieces and LINING pieces right sides together and stitch them together along the back neckline. Turn the crown right side out, baste the seam, press, and topstitch. Smooth out the LINING in the cap, secure it along the seams. Fold the bottom edge of the LINING inwards so that it is not visible from the right side and topstitch along the edge of the cap, simultaneously attaching the LINING and the visor.
  6. Punch eyelets on the TRIM STRIP for the closure.
