Tip: When sewing knit fabrics, use a special elastic stitch or a narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance should be topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. Alternatively, you can sew the pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
Sewing Instructions
- Stitch the center seams of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Serge and press the seams open.
- Along the lower edge of the upper BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL, between the NOTCHES, sew a basting stitch with loose tension and gather. Attach the yoke. Serge and press the seams down.
- Along the upper edge of the lower part, sew a basting stitch with loose tension and gather. Attach the lower part to the yoke. Serge and press the seam up.
- Stitch the side seams of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL, simultaneously stitching the lower edges of the SLEEVES. Insert the ZIPPER into the left side seam, starting from the upper edge of the yoke. Serge and press the seams towards the BACK PANEL. Stitch the right shoulder seam. Serge and press the seam towards the BACK PANEL.
- Along the neckline edge, sew a basting stitch with loose tension and gather. The amount of gathering in the sections is indicated on the pattern. Finish the neckline with BIAS BINDING. Stitch the resulting corner of the BIAS BINDING near the center seam of the FRONT PANEL. Stitch the left shoulder seam. Serge and press the seam towards the BACK PANEL.
- Stitch the CUFFS into a ring. Fold them in half with right sides out, straighten the seams, and press. Attach the CUFFS to the SLEEVES. Press the seams towards the SLEEVE.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment, fold up, and topstitch.
