CUTTER'S MUST
- From main fabric:
- 1. Center BACK PANEL – 1 QTY
- 2. Side BACK PANEL – 2 QTY
- 3. Lower BACK PANEL – 1 QTY on fold
- 4. Center FRONT PANEL – 2 QTY
- 5. Side FRONT PANEL – 2 QTY
- 6. Lower FRONT PANEL – 1 QTY on fold
- 7. SLEEVE – 2 QTY
- 8. Front neckline FACING – 1 QTY
- 9. Back neckline FACING – 1 QTY
Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the back and front neckline FACINGS.
- Serge the side and bottom SEAM ALLOWANCES of the SLEEVE, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
- Stitch the center seam of the FRONT PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open and serge. Stitch the shoulder seams of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
- Place the SLEEVE and BODICE right sides together, aligning the corresponding NOTCHES. Please note: the length of the BODICE edge is 4 cm longer than the SLEEVE edge (2 cm on each side). This is normal. Attach the SLEEVE to the center FRONT PANEL and BACK PANEL.
- Stitch the FACING pieces together. Press seams open and serge. Place the FACING and garment right sides together and stitch the neckline. Topstitch the SEAM ALLOWANCES to the FACING 0.2 cm from the seam. Turn the FACING to the right side and secure it to the shoulder seam allowances and the center FRONT PANEL seam.
- Cut the drawstring casing piece according to the dimensions indicated on the pattern. Press short edges 1 cm to the wrong side. Press the casing in half lengthwise, right side out.
- Along the bottom edge of the center FRONT PANEL, between the marks, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Attach the drawstring casing to the FRONT PANEL.
- Stitch the side BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL pieces along the side seam. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge. Serge the armhole edge, press to the wrong side, and topstitch. Attach the SIDE PANELs to the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Serge the seam, simultaneously serging the SLEEVE attachment seam, and press towards the center BACK PANEL/FRONT PANEL.
- Stitch the side edges of the lower BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge. Stitch with loosely tensioned stitches along the upper edge of the lower FRONT PANEL and gather. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the dress. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES upwards and serge.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment. Press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
- Make two drawstrings of desired length from the main fabric and thread them through the casing.
