Tech. Description

Lace-Up Chemise

A short, close-fitting women's chemise in stretch lace with two-piece triangle cups, thin straps and a deep V back laced with satin ribbon through ten decorative rings.

When To Wear

  • As a nightgown or lingerie piece.
  • As part of a bridal or honeymoon set, worn on its own or under a robe.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting through the body, straight to the hem.

Length: Short, above the knee.

Neckline: V-neckline formed by two triangle cups, each cut in two parts (centre and side). The cup seams are pressed to one side and topstitched with an elastic zigzag stitch.

Front: One front piece with the cups attached to its upper edge. The centre and side edges of the cups are turned and topstitched over 0.5 cm elastic so they do not stretch out.

Back: A deep V opening with a centre back seam below it. The opening edges are bound with folded bias binding, and decorative rings are caught in the binding seam. A satin ribbon is laced criss-cross through the rings and tied at the bottom of the opening.

Straps: Ready-made straps sewn to the cups and back.

Finishing: Upper back edge turned over 0.5 cm elastic and zigzagged; the elastic is cut 10% shorter than the edge. Hem overlocked, turned and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Sewing stretch lace with zigzag stitches, applying elastic under tension, and binding a curved edge with rings inserted into the seam.
