- From fusible interfacing: plackets, 2 flap pieces, facings, cuffs.
Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce plackets, cuffs, facings, and 2 flap pieces with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch darts on the back and front. Press darts towards the center of the piece. Stitch the center back seam. Press seam allowances to the left side and serge.
- Press the top seam allowance of the pockets to the wrong side, fold, and topstitch. Press the side and bottom seam allowances of the pockets to the wrong side. Place pockets on the front according to markings and topstitch.
- Fold flap pieces right sides together and stitch, leaving the top edge open. Trim corner seam allowances of the flaps and turn right side out. Straighten seams and press. Serge the free edge of the flaps, serge buttonholes. Attach flaps to the front, turn down, and topstitch. Sew buttons onto pockets according to buttonholes.
- Fold the left placket in half lengthwise, right side in, and stitch the short top edge. Turn right side out, press, place on the left front with the fold away from the edge, and baste. Fold the right placket with longitudinal edges to the center and stitch the short top edges. Turn right side out, press. Serge buttonholes on the inner of the placket. Secure at the top with machine stitching, place on the right front with folds away from the edge, buttonholes up, and baste.
- Serge the inner edges of the facings. Fold facings with front panels right sides together and stitch the edges of the fronts. Turn facings to the wrong side and press.
- Stitch the center collar seam. Fold the collar in half lengthwise, right side in, and stitch the bottom edge and ends in two directions from the notches. Trim seam allowances at the corners, turn the collar right side out, and press.
- Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the blouse. Press seams towards the back and serge.
- Attach the outer collar to the neckline, turn under the open edge of the inner, and topstitch into the attachment seam.
- Stitch the sleeve seam, press, and serge. Along the bottom edge of the sleeve, make a row of stitches with loosely tightened stitches. Gather the bottom edge to the length of the cuff.
- Stitch cuffs into a loop, press in half lengthwise, right sides out. Unfold the cuff and attach the outer side to the bottom of the sleeve. Turn under the seam allowance of the inner cuff and topstitch into the attachment seam.
- Set sleeves into armholes, easing the sleeve cap. Serge seams.
- Press the bottom of the garment to the wrong side, fold, and topstitch.
- Sew buttons onto the left placket.
