Tech. Description

Knit Crossover Placket Décolleté Top

A women's fitted knit top with long set-in sleeves, a wide front neckline and a deep scooped back. Two narrow plackets cross over each other inside the back opening and are stitched into its edge.

When To Wear

  • For evenings out with trousers or skirts, where the open back is on view.
  • In spring and autumn as a long-sleeved top with a closed front.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted, hip length.

Neckline: Wide, shallow front neckline; deep U-shaped back décolleté. Both edges are turned to the wrong side and topstitched.

Sleeves: Long, set-in, with turned-up hems.

Back: One piece with the deep décolleté. An upper and a lower placket, each folded lengthwise, stitched and turned, are crossed and topstitched into the décolleté seam from the wrong side.

Front: One piece, plain, no seams or darts.

Finishing: Hem and sleeve hems turned to the wrong side and topstitched, with a twin needle to keep the stretch.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Straight knit seams and set-in sleeves; the only detail work is making the two narrow plackets and placing them crossed in the back opening.

Fabric Recommendations

Knit fabric with medium to high stretch, from natural or blended fibres.
