Mini Wrap Robe

A women's short wrap robe with dropped shoulders, short wide sleeves and a contrast band running around the neckline and down both front edges. Closed with inner and outer ties and a separate belt held by loops.

When To Wear

  • At home after a bath or shower, or while getting dressed.
  • As a light summer robe over sleepwear.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Loose, straight cut with dropped shoulders.

Length: Short, ending at the upper thigh.

Collar: A wide band in crepe-satin, cut as a front-edge facing joined at the centre back, stitched along the front edges and neckline and turned to the right side, so it stands around the back neck and tapers into the front edges.

Sleeves: Short and wide, set into open armholes, sleeve and side seams stitched in one pass; hems finished with a crepe-satin band sewn in a ring.

Closure: Wrap front with two ties: one sewn to the left front edge, the other to the right side seam. A separate belt passes through three loops.

Back: One piece cut on the fold.

Finishing: Hem turned up twice and topstitched; belt edge-stitched 0.1 cm from the edge.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Straight seams, sleeves set into open armholes, a band facing, turned ties, belt and loops.

Fabric Recommendations

Light silk fabrics of natural or blended fibres; crepe-satin for the bands, belt, ties and loops.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch shoulder seam allowances. Press seam allowances open. Set in sleeves into open armholes.
  2. Stitch side seam allowances and sleeve seam allowances in one continuous seam.
  3. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side, fold under and topstitch. Stitch the facing pieces for the front edge, press the seam open. Fold the front edge facing with the robe, right sides together, and stitch along the front edge and neckline edges at 1 cm. Fold the facing along the fold line, right side in, fold out the longitudinal allowance and stitch the lower edges. Turn the facing to the right side and topstitch the facing from the right side into the attaching seam, catching the inner.
  4. Stitch the sleeve facing into a ring and finish the sleeve hem in the same way as the front edge.
